Completed Filming!

We have officially finished all the filming for our movie!  The ending of our movie was action-packed and truly embodies a situation a hacker could encounter.  We also filmed short interviews with the actors of the film about their opinions of hacker culture.  These interviews will be included in the credits of the film.  Melissa will edit the remainder of the movie and will post the final cut sometime next week.  Get excited because it will be an entertaining movie!

Weekend Finish

Our last few scenes are soon to be filmed. These high action scenes will be the most interesting parts in our entire filming and we are hoping to capture the audiences eyes especially with these scenes. We will be filming the process and action of (pretending) stealing the T off of Tech Towers. To make these scenes extra exciting, Melissa will be editing and plugging in special effects to make the action more realistic and more explosive. Once Sunday’s filming is done, the editing and behind the scenes film will be started on next. We are excited to see how this film comes out to be and how our peers will react to it.

Back from Spring Break!

This week is our first week back from Spring Break!  This weekend we plan to finish up filming, and then we will start editing the scenes next week.

Movie Editing

Melissa has volunteered to edit our work so far because she has experience in this field.  We are glad she is getting a head start on this task becasue editing can be time consuming and tedious.  Editing our film up till now will also give us an idea how our movie will be presented.  One problem she already is aware of is the fact that our video films are in avi fomrat.  She will have to convert the avi files to .mov because iMovie, the editing software she will be using, is only compatible with .mov files.

Second Day of Filming!

Sunday, we shot our second session. Scene 4 was shot in a study room where it was directed towards the main hacker, Ross, and how he works days in and out on the algorithm to make the whole hacking work. Scene 7 was a short scene but focused on the aftermath when the T was stolen. Ross and Coray played the parts of everyday students. Currently, we still have scene 3, 5, and 6 left to shoot. These will be very action packed and will have a lot more details entailed in them.

First filming day!

Today was our first day of shooting the movie.  We finished up scenes 1 and 2 with a success and even came up with some cool camera effects on the spot to make our film even better.  Tomorrow we’re meeting again to film scenes 3 and 4.  We anticipate being done with the filming part of our project by the weekend after Georgia Tech’s Spring Break.  Everything’s going well so far!

Scene 7

Scene 7 is a relatively short, uneventful scene, but nevertheless, it plays an important role in our film.

This scene captures several random students the next morning on the way to class and their response to the missing T.

The roles will be assigned to the group members at random.

 

Random student 1: Hey, man!  Look up there!  Someone actually did it.

Random student 2:  Did what? Looking

Random student 1:  Stole the T, man.  I always thought that was kind of a joke, but someone actually did it.

Random student 2: Sees it You sure it wasn’t that storm last night?  I don’t know man, I heard there was pretty tight security up there, and who really cares that much to go to that much trouble?

Random student 1:  I don’t know, man.  I guess we’ll read about it in The Technique or something.

Walks away

Random student 3: Look up there!  I guess Ross and his crew did it!

Random student 4:  Wait, what?  Who is Ross?

Random student 3:  Oh.. some guy living down the hall from me.  I heard him and some guys one night plotting to “steal the T in the name of tradition” (mocking it slightly).  I guess they finally did it.

Random student 4:  Ahh, well I guess so.  I bet they’re gonna be in HUUUUUGE trouble.

Scenes 5 and 6 Revealed

Scenes 5 and 6:

Zane: Security guard
Melissa: Security guard 2
Coray: Good guy
Ross: Bad guy/bomber
Slayton: Hacker

Slayton: Alright, tonight we will make history. We will do what no one has yet done before.

Coray: Well, we have to dress the part. What do hackers look like?

Ross: All black obviously. Like ninjas.

Slayton: Na, a hacker looks like whatever he wants to look like. I’ll just wear what I’m wearing now. I got your back though.

Ross: Fine. Let me try these on real quick. (Tries them on and comes back out) How do I look? (Try making your butt look big) Does this make me look fat?

Coray and Slayton: Shaking heads and rolling eyes.

Slayton: Seriously though, Coray, we’ve worked so hard on this. I’ve spent days on my algorithm and figuring this all out. Ready?

Coray: I’m ready!

Back at dorm

Slayton: Alright boys. Look here. I drew up a master plan of your routes and times of everything. If you are off by even 10 seconds, things could go wrong. We need to learn our routes and times quickly. I’ll be walking you through this whole process as well. Here take these (Ross and Coray grab ear piece) I will radio in on these things so we can communicate back and forth.

Coray: What about the security guard that watches over Tech Tower? How are we going to distract him?

Slayton: That’s the thing. You got to be quick. I’m going to cut the camera for one minute. In that time, both of you have to make up the stairwell and onto the top floor.

Ross: Easy. I used to do the stairclimber machine so I can go up a flight of stairs fairly quickly.

Coray: Awkward silence ..okay dude.

Running, ducking, dodging through buildings.

Coray: Slayton. We are here and ready to go. Over.

Slayton: Good. Good. On my command run into Tech entrance. Over.

Coray: Ten four.

Slayton: Three… two… one… GO! (Slayton hacks the camera system for Tech Tower and disables them)

(Ross and Coray sprint into Tech Towers and sprints up the flight of stairs)

In the mean time, Coray and Ross make it to the top floor of Tech and reach a locked door.

Ross: I knew this would come in handy! (pulls out a mini bomb).

BOOM!

Coray: OK, lets go!

Slayton: Go to the window. Open it. One of you has to climb out onto the ledge. Use the cables I gave you earlier for support.

Screen fades to white while in the background someone says “good work team we’re in the clear.

Scenes 3 and 4 Revealed

I was in charge of writing the script for scenes 3 and 4 for our short film.  This script is subject to change and may include natural dialogue in the actual film, but for now, this is a strong foundation for us.

Scene 3:

Melissa (random student): Well, you’ve assembled quite the team here.  I see you have a hacker and a bomber!

Coray:   Yeah, well, I want this to go down in Tech’s history as the greatest attempt of all.  I know it’ll work too because of all the brainpower on our team.  I mean, Slayton’s such a computer nerd that I’m confident he’ll be able to hack into Tech’s security system.

Slayton:  Hey!  I resent that term!  I’m technologically proficient.

Coray: *pause  Right, that’s it.  Anyway, and Ross can blow anything he wants to.

*Ross is in the background playing with a lighter, matches, or some odd-end “bombing device”

Melissa:  Well, I guess I should wish y’all the best of luck!  Anyway, I gotta run to class.  See ya around! Walks off

Scene moves to table discussion with team

Coray:  So, this is what I want us to do.  Slayton, find your way into the security systems in and around Tech Tower.  Do what you have to do, and I know you can, to crash it.

Slayton: Smiles Got it, boss.  What I’ll do is disable the livefeed of the cameras and run a playback of the previous night’s.  The security guard on duty will see nothing different.  I can also change the terminal code to where IF we mess up somewhere, the alarms won’t go off.  It’s genius!  Types away

Coray:  You do whatever it is you’re good at.  Ross, there’s a construction supply store about twenty minutes out of town that sells just what you should need to create a bomb.  I think this is the best way to steal the T.  We’ll be able to hide behind the smoke and it’ll completely destroy any evidence.

Ross:  Yeah, you’re talking about Jerry’s Supplies?  Yeah, I’ve got an account there.

Slayton and Coray look at him awkwardly

Coray:  Alright guys, let’s do this.  Slayton, I’ll come check on your in the next few days to see how the hacking is coming along.

Slayton:  Okay.  Towers 318.  I’ll be there.  Bring some Red Bulls.

Scene 4:

Coray knocks on dorm room’s door

Slayton:  Tired, wipes his eyes, sits in the dark Who is it?

Coray:  It’s me man.  Open the door.

Slayton:  Who??

Coray:  Coray!  Aggravated

Slayton:  jumps up, surprised Oh….r-right.  My bad man.  Opens door.

Coray:  Have you been asleep man?  You look horrible!   And this room’s a mess!

Coray picks up random to-go cups and chip bags and sniffs the room’s odor

Slayton:  Defensive Look, don’t judge me!  I’m doing what you asked me to do.  Let me do it!   Runs back to his desk

Coray:  Easy man!  I was just  checking on you.  So show me how it’s coming….

Slayton: shows computer code Well, I’ve run into some problems.  Tech’s security servers are no joke.  I’m in the mainframe though!  See?! Gets excited

Coray:   Yeah man, nice.  But you should get out.  You haven’t been out in days, have you?   Don’t let this consume you.

Slayton:  I have to!  This is my life!  I have to succeed in this!
